Question DVD+RW mounting problems

When I place a blank (formatted via Nero in XP) DVD+RW into the DVD-Rom drive I get a "Cannot Mount Volume" error message but when I place another DVD+RW which has a movie on it (also via Nero) it just plays the movie normally. What am I doing wrong? I'd appreciate any advice.
Keep it simple as I am an Ubuntu "newbie".

There is a difference between a data dvd and a movie dvd. Data disks must be mounted to access the files on them; movie (or audio) disks aren't mounted.

So, if you formatted the disk via Nero, what filesystem did you format?
