DVD, not in fstab, but still works - Why?
I have two drives in my PC, a DVD-ROM on IDE1/secondary, and a CD RW on IDE/master.
I just installed Slackware 10.1 from a magazines cover DVD. The installation went fine. After a few reboots (no problems - just normal on/offs, as I don't leave it running when I'm not there) I browsed the DVD - no problems. I can even play a movie or audio cd through xine. I know audio CDs do not get mounted, but data DVDs should, I guess.
But when I was looking in fstab, there was no entry for the DVD. There is an entry for the CD RW, /dev/hdc, mounted to /mnt/cdrom, but nothing for the DVD.
When I was using SuSE (various releases between 8.1 and 9.2) there was always an fstab entry.
I haven't tried a data CD int he crive yet, though...
How come?
