dvd's not playing

Hi Everyone,

I can't get my DVD's to play in Totem. I get an error message that says "could not read from resource." I have done the obvious, i.e. cleaning disk, trying other discs, trying a different computer; they play just fine on other machines. Any ideas out there? Thank you & all the best, DAS

What distribution are you using? There's a known issue with totem and DVD in Ubuntu, you can find a lot of topics in Google. Usually, they're all resolved by installing libdvdcss2 Like this:

Are you using the gstreamer or xine engine for totem? If you are using gstreamer try switching to xine. You will also need to enable the Medibuntu repositories as well and install libdvdcss as previously suggested.
