I'm trying to get a Sony camcorder to talk to the dv1394 card under Ubuntu 12.04. I've installed dv4l and get the message
"no vloopback input device found. vloopback module in kernel?"

I have installed vloopback but am not sure where to find where it is installed. Do drivers such as this need to be pointed to via the $PATH?

Others have battled with making this model of sony camcorder talk via the 1394 firewire protocol.

Any ideas appreciated.
