dumb question?
I just installed RH 9 on a older laptop, when I leave a cd in the drive at the time of shut down, when I start up agian the comp seems to lock up, I know that the easy solution is to not leave any disk in the drives, my question is why does the comp lock up? I just started with linux, with win the computer would remind me that a none system disk was still in the drive. is there any way to set linux up to do anything similar? Thanks!

I think the best way to do it is to set your BIOS so that it doesn't book from floppy or CD-ROM. You don't need booting from other drives everyday do you? :p

Thanks Koyi, but what I know about linux, and setting up my bios would not fill a thimbal, I am very new to all this. But so far I have had fun, and learn some too. now I think its time to find a good book on RH 9 and start reading.

You are welcome :) Buy a RH 9 book only when you decided to stick to Redhat. Buy a more general one if you'd like to try out other distros, too.
Have fun reading. :) |
