Dumb question
Recently I've been installing several linux games. Some of which have dependencies like libglutmesa and lots of other open gl library files. After installing all these i noticed that my frame rate on one of my xscreensavers isn't as high as it used to be. Could these open gl libraries have over written my nvidia driver, should I reinstall the nvidia driver? Games don't seem to run slower than usual, just wondering if I should be concerned by this or not.

It's possible that your slower-running apps are using the wrong libraries. Check out the Nvidia README, in Appendix C, where it talks about libGL and libGLcore and adjusting your ldconfig search path.

correction.... dumb subject line...

I read through that readme but it is a little over my head. I'm not sure which libraries my 3D apps are SUPPOSE to use and I don't know how to modify the search path to tell them to use the proper ones.

I figured this one out. It was pretty dumb on my part. In many of the xscreensaver's settings windows there is a speed slide bar. And after i updated my xscreensaver to version 4.15 the slide bar was simply on a slower setting which made the fps lower.
