Dualboot Vista-Slackware, some questions
Hi,
I'm planning on dualbooting my dell xps m1330 (running vista home premium as default) with a slackware 12.1. I have used Linux (ubuntu), but I've never dualbooted before. I'd like to know if it's just making a new partition on the hard-drive, insert the slack-dvd and install it.. Or is it a bit more complicated than that? I've searched the internet for a few days now, but I can't find a tutorial on dualbooting slackware with vista. However, I've found some on dualbooting vista with ubuntu. Also, should I use lilo or grub, and should I configure grub/lilo or is this automaticly configured (does it detect vista?). I'm sorry if I ask to many questions in a row, but as my laptop is brand new and as I need it for university, I don't want to mess it up. Thank you in advance, Gudgip |
All dual booting, with whatever distro, is more or less the same. Resize to leave unallocated space of course, then follow the installation procedure, which does differ from distro to distro. You'll find plenty of useful information here:

Vista SP1 has an issue with your 'untrusted OS'
http://apcmag.com/vista_sp1_wont_ins..._microsoft.htm If you have already installed SP1 for Vista you shouldn't have any issues. |
