Dualboot success
 

After a few unsuccessful attempts to dualboot a computer that's basically a 20 pound paperweight, I finally got it. I had 2 clean hard drives, one is win2k the other is mandrake 9.1. My problem ended up being the way I physically setup the drives. This computer runs on a P1 300m, 64mb or ram, combined 28gig hds. I had nothing better to do with this than play around with it and see how much it can handle before exploding.

BTW does anyone know if mandrake stop supporting mandrake 9.1. I had some trouble finding a mirror site with updates. I find this verison much more compatiable with OLDER OLDER computers. I had version 10.0 and it didn't recognize a lot of my hardware, so back to 9.1.

except for the 'BTW' part, this has no real question, and the 'BTW' question should be in the Mandrake forum I think.

Not to be a jerk, but don't i have the right to post a successful experience with linux? And the second part of my post could have gone in either forum, considering im still pretty new with linux i felt like posting it here. and double posting isnt fun.

I was just noting that you could have put this in success stories.

BTW here is the site that i learn that can use windows NT bootloader to boot linux and windows NT..

this techniques is mostly for people who wanted to install linux just to try it and if they dont like it they cant just delete the linux partition and wouldnt harm windows booting process

For mandrake mirrors, you should go to the "easy urpmi" site (sorry I can't post the link, the bloody server won't let me access - it's usually reliable, though occassionally you have access snags).

That should then list any available 9.1 mirrors.

It's probably better if you upgrade, as 9.1 is getting on a bit now (9.1, 9.2, 10.0 community, 10.0 official, 10.1 community and now 10.1 official) I'm sure you get the picture.

Though as you should be able too see, the easy urpmi site points you at mirrors so you can get just about any available packages.

I always used to have sources for everything, including jpackage and plf (the plf usually has stuff that isn't available at the other's and is, more often than not, more up to date than official mandrake packages).
