dual boot set up snags

ta very much.

snag (mark 2) now i've finished messing around with the boot loader, when I boot into linux, it gets as far as "starting sound drivers" follows that with "restoring previous sound setup intel8x0"(can't remember if it says sound setup or configuration) but then it hangs.

The only way I can do anything is to reset back into xp.

Does anyone know if theres a better source for a driver for this device 82801BA/BAM AC97 sound chip. I found reference to it on the intel site but nothing about a linux driver for it???

Thanks for any further assistance
