dual booting vista with redhat 9

i have vista installed on my toshiba laptop. i freed up 10 gb space for redhat 9 installation. but when i insert the redhat cd and start installing i'm first shown a warning saying hard drive couldn't be detected. any idea why this appears? i tried to continue with the installation, but when i reach partitioning, an error msg is shown saying hard drive couldn't be found, and the installation stopped.

i suggest you get Fedora's latest release, as Redhat-9 is ancient and belongs in a museum, if you have a new lapop with vista there is a good chance that Redhat-9 is much too old to function on that new laptop...

Is the laptop harddrive a SATA? I'm sure Redhat9 will not support SATA.

In addition to Fedora, I would also consider Ubuntu, Mepis, or PCLinuxOS
