Dual booting Vista/Werewolf?

I cannot seem to get Fedora8 and Vista to co-exist. I installed vista then fc8. That worked great loading with grub into fc8, but then Vista wouldnt boot from grub(BOOTMGR is missing). Reinstalled Vista and that overwrote Grub, so now I cant get into fc8. I want to just boot grub from my usb or a cd boot disk to solve the problem. Is that possible/plausible. I cant see why not...

This is all on one hard drive BTW, 80gig split in half/2 partitions.

I do have a second HDD but the boot sector on that one is shot so im using it for storage only.

Thanks in advance.

I found a workaround that works nicely. It isn't loading grub from a bootdisk, its a grublike windows vista application.

co-incedentally i found the answers in the ubuntu specific forums here, which is why i didnt find them right away.

anwyay...
