Dual Booting Ubuntu 8.10 with Vista Installed First
Hi all!
I've installed ubuntu 8.10 dualbooting with my XP system, but I have another computer with vista already on it that I would like to dual boot with Ubuntu also. My question is, can I simply install Ubuntu with the livecd like I did with the xp system? or is vista bootloading/partitioning different? steps I took to install Ubuntu with XP. 1. pop in livecd 2. followed standard installation instructions 3. it now boots with grub bootloader which prompts for xp or ubuntu I've found guides on how to dual boot ubuntu with both xp and vista but vista always seems to require complicated partition resizing, and in short, i was just wondering if i can just install ubuntu like i did with xp without damaging vista thanks in advance! ps. sorry for the long post lol |
George,
Short answer: yes. We have had no difficulty in installing Intrepid Ibex (8.10) with Vist. However there is a program on the LiveCD called WUBI that will install it as though its a Windows program. Just insert the liveCD while in Vista. Enjoy! |
have U installed all three OS's in different partitions?
if yes, I think u should update the file "grub.conf" in the directory: /boot/grub/ and update the file to chainload vista's boot loader as well (like XP) mentioning the hd and partition number viz: (hd0,0)... |
