Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

How do I get round this problem any assistance would be much appreciated

I think you could not configure bootloader with windows properly. Try it again.
I've had trouble with fedorcore 4 booting as well.. On 1 install grub would only boot the smp kernel , even though the other kernel was included (properly) in the grub boot stanza.
A live disk would be a nice thing to have, as you would be able to edit the grub menu easily.. You should still be able to boot fedora core by passing the option to grub , though you will need to know the syntax... I'm lost with how you added anything to the winblos boot menu.. Does the fedoracore4 cd recovery disk help? I don't have one, and don't know the particulars of it.
