Dual Booting Bug Corrected?

Hi.

Currently, I am running a Dell laptop with Windows XP. I would like to learn linux and want to setup a dual boot system with Fedora.

A couple months ago, I attempted to do this with Fedora Core 2. However, I found out that there was bug in Fedora Core 2 that prevented it from being dual booted with Windows: something about the hard drive geometry. My question is, has this problem been corrected in Core 3?

Happy Holidays.

I have a dell laptop also.(600M)
I have stayed away from fedora core 3, because I had the same problem you had.
I really enjoy FC2 as solo OS on my P2 desktop, but I am really gun shy about putting into a dual boot configuration.
If you really want FC3 bad enough you could always install as solo OS and use wine to run your windows programs. ( I myself can not. I have a few custom apps for work that won't work with wine.)

here is a thread from here:

I searched for fc3 and win xp dual boot, but only really got info on FC2.

Good Luck.

The bug you mentioned isn't even a show stopper. It can easily be fixed (and I've posted the link on how to fix itr a couple of times). I imagine it's been fixed in more recent distros like FC3, but I don't know that for certain.

I know the FC2 disk geometry problem with Win is not a show stopper, but can be beyond the grasp of newbs like me.
It was easier for me to use fdisk and start over with a new distro.
I have heard FC 3 works with xp dual, but have not done it 4 myself.
