Dual Booting

I just installed ubuntu because my windows was infected by a virus and this was the only way i could get it to format my system. But now it wont let me go back to windows, it gives me an error message (something about my file system) and i would really like to re install windows, and then setup ubuntu as a dual boot. Any suggestions... if you need the exact message, i plan on trying a couple more times....

OK, you'll have to be more specific. Do you get to the grub bootup screen where it lets you select Windows or Ubuntu? What is the exact error message? Which Linux Filesystems did you use (ext3, ext2, reiser, etc)?

What kind of harddrives do you have? (ide, scsi, sata etc) How are your partitions laid out?

yes please list the error message

and you could try a livecd like knoppix , its a whole linux distribution that you could run from the cd without installing anything to your harddisk

it was an error stating that it could not write to the boot sector, so i used ubuntu to re partition the drive, 50% at ext2 and 50% at fat32..... it will let me install windows but there are a lot of bad sectors so i'm not even going to bother until i get a couple of new drives. its an ide 40gig drive. i'm used to using fdisk, but since ubuntu had reconfigured the partition, fdisk wouldnt work.
