dual boot with winxp dynamic disk
I have a 2 disk system with Windows XP (dynamic disk) and a FAT32 disk. I recently installed suse 8.2 on the second hard drive. It has set up GRUB as a boot loader, but doesn't find Windows XP, presumably because it's set to dynamic disk. The only options I have are Linux, Failsafe and Floppy. Is there a way of adding an entry into Grub to force the PC to look at the first disk for Win XP? I'd thought I'd ask before I delete the new boot loader with the XP rescue disk
Any help very greatfully appreciated Alan |
You have 2 disks in the system. What disk is windows xp on? Is it on the first disk or second disk? Also, is it NTFS or FAT32?

The easiest way is to simply boot suse from a floppy. XP Dynamic disks & linux don't like each other.
Or alter your boot.ini ( C:\boot.ini ) file so you can choose Windows or Suse. Provided you don't alter the line which should look something like: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS = "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect Clear instructions: http://jaeger.morpheus.net/linux/ntldr.php |
