dual boot + RAID + XP troubles
Any help gratefully received! I am trying to install suse 9.1 onto a dual opteron workstation with 3 sata gig sata drives (1 + 2 raid0). The system had a clean install of xp, which of course required the raid controller floppy to get things going. The problem arises when trying to install suse as a dual boot. Linux doesn't recognise the raid drives with the result that grub can't boot the system after the install. This is driving me nuts! If I delete the raid array then everything goes fine but then I can't boot xp. Everything else I've tried with my limited (well, actually no) knowledge of linux partioning results in either a grub geom error or a disk error or a blank screen.
Is ther a way of using raid 0 with these drive AND having suse as a dual boot on top of XP? Cheers |
I use RAID 0 at the moment and it worked out of the box. If you are using software RAID, there might be a compatability problem. Is the controller an on-board controller with a compatable chip set? not all are. Can you swap out the controller for a different one?
