Question Dual boot question

I am thinking of setting up a dual boot system on my acer aspire 380 which has 2 hard drives the secondary drive is just been formated and is clean. I also have a external hard drive that I did a quick format on. I downloaded ubunto 7.04 and burned it to a disk. I am running vista now and want to keep it for now. What I want to know is when I boot from the ubuntu disk
will it walk me though the steps to set up a dual boot system? Most of the forums I have read talk about installing on the same drive that windows is on.
But never has any advice on how to install to a secondary drive. Can anyone help me out there?

Generally speaking...

GRUB is perfectly capable of booting O/S's on different drives. I would install the Ubuntu to the second hd, and install GRUB to the mbr of the first drive. The Ubuntu installer should have no trouble in automatically configuring GRUB to load either Ubuntu or Windows.
As always, backing up is recommended...although I have never had an issue with any Linux installation hosing a Windows partition.

Thanks for the quick reply. When I boot from the ubuntu disk will it give me the option to install it on the second drive. Is grub a program that comes with ubuntu? I sorry but I don't know what mbr means. Do I have to install grub on the windows drive before I start? What I would like is that when I boot up my computer it gives me the option of which os i want to use. I don't have any partitions on the second hard do I need to make one?

grub is a bootloader that ubuntu uses, mbr = master boot record, ubuntu will install grub automatically, just tell it to install it to the first drive when it asks you
