dual boot next to xp wont work

I just installed ubuntu 9.0.4 on my computer. i installed it from a disc. the os installed with out a problem at the end of the installation i rebooted but instead of going to the boot menu. it just automatically booted windows. checked the start up and recovery in windows. in there it didn't show any other option to set as default besides windows. tried to reinstall ubuntu about half way through it was all ready shows that ubuntu was there and taking up 150GB of my memory. i canceled out of the installation process. and again restarted the computer. again it didn't ask what os i wanted to boot it just boot directly into windows.

i have a xps gen 5 dell. it is running xp. intel core due 3ghz processor with 2g ram. i believe it is raid 0

does any one have any suggestions on what could fix this.

you have to start from cd and -if possible- boot in recovery mode. Look for a possibility to install grub in the MBR.

I believe Ubuntu may have failed to detect the raid and its boot loader may have been placed at the wrong disk/wrong location. RAID is not universally recognised by all OSes. LInux generally use its own software raid driver.
