Dual Boot Mandrake 8.1 / Win98
 

I am using Mandrake 8.1 but unfortunately I still need to use Windows to use my modem, I was thinking about dual booting and i was wondering how much trouble it is. I have ried to dual boot linux and windows 2000 but it was kind of tricky, if I use Lilo and install Win98 on the first partion will it work right?

With Win95/98/Me it is no brainer to do so, just install Lilo on MBR.

Just out of the Blue, do you have an internal or external modem? an external modem should be easy enough to get working. I mean if that is the only reason to have windows is the modem then I suggest trying to get the modem working first. I f you have a win modem and you want to run just Linux then I suggest getting an external modem. On the other hand I have dual boot booted win 95 with no problems But now I find it easier, not to boot but organization wise, to run Linux on one hard drive and WinXX on another.

No, unfortunately my modem is a winmodem (laptop), I connect through another computer on my network at home so I can use Linux most of the time, but when i'm away from home I need windows to use the modem. I've tried in the past to get my modem to work but I can't seem to get it going. Its a Toshiba Software modem from a satelitte 1800 if you have any suggestions.

Just finished the dual boot and everything went smooth. Peice of cake.
