dual boot - GRUB is now frozen

all, i have a dual boot machine win xp + rh 9

keeping ntldr on the mbr

boot.ini file will point to linux.bin (/boot)

for some reason it remains frozen at GRUB (black screen) when i choose linux from menu on startup.

I should probably recreate linux. bin.

however, when I run Linux in rescue mode, i complete the DF command, and there is no /boot SHOWING UP! I also chroot /mnt/sysimage

any ideaS? I am stuck

If /boot is on a different partition than your / partition, you may need to mount it manually (some rescue disks only mount the root partition). You might also want to ditch NTLDR -- I've heard bad things about it, particularly in the Win2K days, but maybe they've been fixed since. GRUB is perfectly capable of booting Win XP.
