Question Dual boot - FAT32 Question

I have a dual-boot Win98/RH Linux box. I want to convert my C:-drive to FAT 32. Is LILO and Linux still going to work without re-installing?

Assuming that you are converting from Fat16 (I don't know if its possible to download from NTFS to Fat32) then I don't see why it should interfer.

Just in case it does overwrite your MBR, make a Linux boot floppy first (its a good idea to have one available anyway) and then if lilo is overwritten boot using the floppy, log in as root, and run lilo.

Yes, you will be able to do it, and it should work fine. Windows 98 was around before fat32, so you most likely have fat16 (unless you have a 3rd party tool, but I don't think win98 likes ntfs too much).

Just run the windows98 drive converter in accessories.

Have not actually tried converting form F16 to F32 whilst having Linux installed, but QNX (have since got rid of it - it sucked!). Converting didn't affect my MBR at all, so give it a go! Cannot stress the importance of having a Linux boot-disk though, always a god-send if you're going to be 'tinkering'.

...since everyone seems to be tossing in their opinions here... yeah, count me in as vote #4 that says you should be ok. i don't think the conversion prog worries about the partitions, so it shouldn't touch the linux drives.
