Dual Boot

Hi everyone,
I have currently set up on my computer, XP Pro and Linux O7 on 2 seperate partitions on the one drive.
I want to delete the Linux Partition from my main HDD and then reload it onto a slave HDD.
Can I do this without damaging my XP partition and set my computer to boot straight to XP?
Also is it possible to then switch to Linux by selecting the slave drive?
I ask that all answers be posted in extra simple terms as I am 60 and still learning my way around a lot of computer knowledge.
Regards mistyman.

One question first from a 70 year old man do you have a rescue cd for xp or
the install cd ?
Because you need it to put MBR back in place

all the best

To answer your questions, yes it is possible to delete your linux partition on your first hd without disturbing your XP. Yes you can set windows to be the "default" boot. The easiest way would be to delete the partition that linux is on and then reinstall to the new hd. Then when you boot up your new installation of linux you will need to go into
boot/grub/menu.lst and change the default boot os.

I forgot to add that you will not be able to boot XP after you delete the partition untill you reinstall linux or repair the MBR with a XP disk.

I can barely remember what being 60 was like---I am jealous of your youth....;)

The "booting" link below might help.
