Cool dual boot

recently decided to try rh9, dual boot with winxp pro, system consists of 2hd, partitioned 2nd hd ext3 for linux, installed, tried to boot, rh grub works, acts like rh is booting, then when login is supposed to come up, monitor shuts off, no hd activity.
2nd hd has other partitions I didn't disturb, put rh on 1st partition, used rh install disc to partition.

What are the other partitions on the second hard drive?
If I recall correctly, Grub blindly follows the options for the OS you selected, even if there isnt (a valid) one there, so that's no indication that things are ok/broken.
Are there any errors when RedHat boots?
Does the monitor actually power off?

Could it be an XF86config(-4) problem? Eg wrong monitor and refresh rate settings?
Did you have to enter any of these?

No, I don't see any errors when rh boots, monitor doesn't power off, goes into power saving mode.
The other partitions on that drive (3) Only hold pics, movies, mp3s,etc...
When I installed rh, it saw my Radeon 7200, asked for resolution, I set @800x600, monitor is set to run @85hz refresh.
This drive is a logical drive, should I set as primary? (On rh partition)
Thanks for your reply
