in windows, how do you connect to your dsl modem?
via usb or ethernet?

if ethernet, then you just need to get the network card running and then get linux to use that . does your isp use dhcp to give you your ip addresses?

(if it sounds like im speaking crap then ignore me).

winipcfg is a good program to use in windows to get all the info you might need.

try searching the forum or for info

When you want to connect with pppoe
You can run adsl-start

I do not know how to set it up.

I downloaded a file rp-pppoe-3.2.tar.gz

I do not know where i got it but if you search on google i guess you'll find it

tar -xvzf rp-pppoe-3.2.tar.gz
Got to the dir that is created

cd dirname

when you give:
ls -al
there is a file called go

and you'll be promped to fill in some details about your the ethernet card you'll want to use like eth0 or eth1 and the login details from your provider and so on

The typ adsl-start to start connection and adsl-stop to stop (DUH)the connection.

This is how i get an pppoe connection through my Dell laptop with an Xircom RMB 100 pcmcia card

You can download the rp-pppoe-3.3.tar.gz file from the RoaringPenguin website.

Hope it helps.

DSL on 7.2

I haven't found the very useful adsl-setup script from 7.1 in Enigma, but i did find the Internet configurator in GNOME/KDE. The program will create a ppp device which can be activated at boot afterwards in network-config. If you need to use adsl-start / adsl-stop it will give an error "Cannot read configuration file '/etc/ppp/pppoe.conf'" which can be fixed by copying the file
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ppp0 to /etc/ppp/pppoe.conf
no roaring pinguins were harmed(installed) during this procedure .

Good Luck.
