dropbox unconfigured during bootup

I installed AIDE (Advanced Intrusion Detection Environment) on my Centos 6.5, 64 bit system. I want to be able to keep permanent records of the system, plus any changes that may occur.

I ran

aide --init

and I got s lot of prelinking errors.

I went to the prelink file and turned prelinking off in the file. It was in the /etc/syscon/ directory.

I also ran

prelink -ua.

I got no more prelink errors when I ran the AIDE software.

I had another other error so I did not pursue using aide software any further for now. It was about configuration (aide-conf) - not importqnt here.

I rebooted my system.

During the boot cycle I got

starting dropbox: unconfigured : /etc/dropbox/ FAILED

with FAILED written in red. I get it.

I know that something must be done to configure dropbox, but since I cannot get into the GUI I am not sure what.

What must I do to get past the dropbox failed error. I assume it means dropbox must be configured or reconfigured.

Thanks in advance.

The dropbox failure has nothing to do with inability to boot to X, IMO. It's a result, not a cause. I know nothing about AIDE, but considering that your configuration issues with it happened at the same time as the GUI failure, I would suggest looking there for answers.

prelinking issues

Sounds right, but I think the issue is with prelinking, not AIDE itself. It choked on some files, NVIDIA driver files. What else?

So should I reinstall them if I can?

Thanks in advance.

auditd

Okay that got it. I was able to get back my GUI.

The line about dropbox not being configured still is there.

Also starting auditd is there. Starting auditd fails.

Both with FAILED in big red letters.

What does the starting auditd FAILED mean?

Thanks

I don't know what auditd is or does. Sorry, can't help with that.
