Question drives? mounting? /mnt empty...

could someone please explain how I can somehow setup or <install> even, a cd rom drive, i am a long time simple-minded windows user coming to Mandrakesoft 9.1 and am hoping for a explanation of every process of doing this. I think i may have mounted the drives correctly but am not too sure just wtf Im doing, please help

You didn't install the developmental packages? As root, command:
urpmi gcc
An Introduction to the Midnight Commander. You can install it by commanding:
urpmi mc
