Although it seams mental to me to run two GNU-Linux distrobutions this might help you : https://help.ubuntu.com/9.04/install...ios-setup.html
It makes it easy for you because when it is plugged in it will boot otherwise null. Now if you want them both installed on the same drive it is all about the drive is partitioned upon installation. Watch out when it is time to get the boot loader installed because if it is on the laptop hard drive it will pop up every time. And that will be the case anyway if you can not boot directly off of the zip drive. I know of 2 boot programs "LILO" & "grub" researchable in the wiki.,.,,, |
Tony, you didn't state what type of interface your zip-drive uses, but I suspect it is a parallel port drive.
There are several drivers that come with linux that can work with parallel port zip-drives. ppa, imm, and paride. You can test this by connecting the zip-drive, loading a formatted disk. After that use modprobe to load the different drivers. You can use dmesg as needed to check on what the drivers reported after loading. Also check http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-mini/ZIP-Drive.html which has a nice howto, although it is a little dated. _______________ Gerrard |
Please post what type of drive you have i.e. USB, SCSI, IDE or Parallel port.

Hi,
The Iomega Zip drive is a USB drive. Tony044 |
Nothing special required. The drive acts just like any other USB storage device. A standard formatted zip disk use the 4th partition i.e.
/dev/sda4. (When actually mounting a disk use the actual device ID) |
