Driver info for ATi Radeon's


hi, i know how to get into the config file and that, i just wish no know what the driver is called for a ATI radeon 9600 pro

Which driver specifically? The one that cones with X windows is called 'radeon'. It has good 2D acceleration but slow 3D acceleration. The proprietary driver from ATI that you can install additionally is called 'fglrx'. It has slower 2D acceleration, but much better 3D acceleration.

the one that comes with X has no 3d acceleration, its all software,... the one from ATI has 3d hardware acceleration (much faster then software)
