driver for umax astra 2000p for ubuntu

I have a Umax Astra2000P Scanner. Earlier I was using Windows Xp as OS. Now as the support for XP was said to be withdrawn I got Windows 7 installed. This OS does not support my scanner and I have not been able to use the scanner. I also had installed ubuntu 14.04. This also does not support the scanner. Now I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 as I also have a Lexmark Optra E310 Laser Printer. I got the driver for the printer and it is working properly. But to use my Scanner I require a driver. I have not tried anything and I am a new comer for Linux. Please help me so that I can use my scanner.
Thanks

First, I'd go back to using Ubuntu 14.04, or the latest version of Mint. And chances are your scanner works just fine...since, as you say, you haven't tried ANYTHING, how exactly do you know it's not working???

This device appears to be supported, and there is much information available on it:

http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/...umax_pp.5.html
