DriveLoader Installation Instructions

Hi,

I'm a (pre)noob who will be downloading DriveLoader to install a windows driver for a broadcom wireless card on Suse 10.2 - I'm sure to most of you, you could do it with your eyes closed. In any case, I've looked at the Linuxant installation instructions and I'm still a bit uncomfortable - this will be my first "install" and I don't want to mess it up. I'd appreciate if somebody had a step-by-step/screen by screen approach to do this install i.e. what directory to I start with, what command line, how to check the install is correct, where might be the logs, etc... AND, if I mess up, is there a way to delete everyting I've done and start again fresh. Thanks.

Dunno what DriveLoader is anyway. Most just try to install the distro to see if it picks up the wireless card - SuSE 10.2 is quite up to date so you have a good likelyhood of success.

Otherwise, they (as I understand it) use ndiswrapper to install the windows driver to work under linux.

Stage by stage, screen by screen, blow by blow install instructions are actually quite rare - except for some distros explaining the likely stages of installing (yes, I constantly bang my head against the wall when trying new stuff - developers like to develop, and don't make the best "technical authors").

Hence you're in one of the better places already i.e. the world of forums for linux (SuSE have their own ones, but LQ is just about the biggest, more frequently used, and you usually get the quickest answers to problems you post).

regards

John

Thanks John. I was afraid I wouldn't find any more details. Oh, well!
