Question dpkg not working

when i try to use dselect i get an error that says:
dpkg: parse error, in file '/var/lib/dpkg/status' near line 42027 package 'debiandoc-sgml':
'not-inwtalled' is not allowed for third (status) word in 'status' field.

Ok, apt-get anything does not work, same error....yikes...

Edit the problem file, go to the problem line, and change "not-inswalled" to "not-installed". OK?
