dpkg-configure not working

I am bemused. I had a shed load of trouble with the Ge6600 video card and in the end put an old ATI card in which works fine. I just found a poss fix so I went back to the GE6600.
When I type:

dpkg-configure xserver -xorg

'it' says there is no such file as dpkg-configure, but that is how I set up the ATI card. What had happened ?

Also. how do I make xorg.conf r/w ?

Ermmm as root you can edit everything.
And xorg.conf can only be edited by root, it's a system configuration file, so you need to open it from root user.
