downloading using vuze:seeds and peers in jaunty

i am very new to torrent downloads so forgive if the question sounds stupid.i am trying to download a file which has 44 seeds and 22 peers in brackets.but the actual seeds beside it are 20 and know seeds have to be do i increase it to the bracketed value?and will my upload speed affect download speed?how can i achieve speed?
