Downloading SUSE 9.2

rite bout 3 years ago, i purshased suse 7.2 personal to use on my spare pc, after installing it had a little poke around with it, but i cudnt get it to network with my windows 2000 pc and i cudnt get it to do sum other things, so i gave up. but now i have decided to give it another go, but with a newer version, so i went to the suse web site and had a look around and downloaded the suse 9.2 mini iso file, which i thought wud let me install a basic system to add in different packages, but i miss read wot it said.

so now i am wondering can i download the other packages that i need, to get a basic system up and running and at them to the cd i created with the iso?

if so can u tell me wot i need to download from there website, lasttime i installed 7.2 i like the kde desktop, can i just download this?

i will also need it to be able to network to a windows xp computer and be able share its internet conection.

i will be running this on a dell latitude CPIA laptop, 4GB hard disk, 64mb of ram, 650 P3 processor running at 500mhz, 3com 3C589D pcmica network card.

any help will be useful

you can find the newest iso files here . If ound this by going to distrowatch and then selecting downloads. I cannot tell exactly what went wrong with you install but if you provided more information i could try to help. However i don't think that it matters whether you try to get the mini iso file to work if you choose the full installation which would be easier

the default desktop environment is KDE.

hi thanks for that but the reason why i downloaded the mini iso is cus i have only got 56k so i just wanted to get it up and running then download the extras that i need once it is up and running

You could buy the disk at any one of several on-line distributors, since you have a dial up. I get mine retail usually. I believe there is an ad on these forums for one, but I don't remember the URI. The cost is $cheap.

Just leave the download going overnight ir while you are at work. When you come back it should be almost finished.

thanks for the help but i dont really want to go out and buy 9.2 as when i brough 7.2 i wasnt impressed so dont want to be wasting my money again.

and as for downloading the 3gb iso it wud take days on my 56k connection

bluesman2333 01-24-2005 04:29 PM

Actually the D/L on dial up is 12 days. I tried it to see :) I'm talking just a couple of dollars for 9.2, it is not alot of money. Linuxcd.org is one of them, but not the one that advertises on these forums.
