downloading slackware
 

Hi, I purchased a copy of slackware 12.0 but for some reason it wont boot into the cd. There has to be something wrong with the cd as Xbuntu and ubuntu cd would boot. So I am trying to download an ISO but realise they are all 3 gig or more. I only have a CD drive and do not have space to burn.

Can any one point me to a link where I can get cd version?

He doesn't have the space to download and burn an ISO. So the only relevant link in the link you provided is the Slackware Store, and it sounds like he's already tried that route.

You might want to ask one of your friends to download and burn an ISO for you. Make sure to check the MD5 or SHA1 (whichever is used--I'm not sure) against the image file and again against the CD. And burn the CD at the lowest speed.

If asking a friend to download and burn it isn't an option, I don't know what to tell you.

Go to one of the mirrors and look for a file which ends in ...d1.iso - that is disk one and is CD sized. You then have a choice: do the same for d2 and d3 (disks 2 + 3) or install from disk one and then do the rest via the internet - that is, get X and KDE, etc.

keep in mind that the desktop i am trying to boot has ubuntu installed on it. So, could it be that ubuntu is preventing slackware cd loading?

No, having another distro would not prevent the disk from booting. Did you check the checksums before burning? You could also try burning at a lower speed as that prevents errors.

Yep, you are right. Just ran a checksum and the files were different...
Well have to try another download...
