Downloading Skype using Fedora

Just tried downloading skype on my new Aspire One laptop (Linpus Linux operating system). I used Fedora and the skype installer but on the Installing Packages page it stopped half way through installing and it said Unable to retrieve software information and the following message came under details : Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again

What do I need to do now? Is it possible my little acer aspire one laptop isnt able to download skype?
Would really appreciate your help.
Thanks

No, but it is possible your yum configuration is messed up. Try this:

Quote:

* You need to edit two of your repository files: /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora.repo and /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-updates.repo. Now un-comment all the lines that start with the term baseurl and place a comment before all lines that start with mirrorlist. This should be done for both the above files.

* Now edit your /etc/hosts file and append the following to it’s contents:
Quote:

80.239.156.215 mirrors.fedoraproject.org
213.129.242.84 mirrors.rpmfusion.org

Also look at this link.

'Hope that helps .. PSM
