download files via wget in browser

I had set two 700MB links for download in firefox 3.6.3 by browser itself. Both of them hung at 84%.
I trust wget so much.
Here the problem is : when we click on download button in firefox then it says save file & when download has begun then i can right click in downloads window & select copy download link to find out that link was http://d212.uploadstation.com/file/v...Kum.DvDRip.avi
if i knew that earlier like in case of hotfile server there is no script associated with download button just it points to avi URL so I can copy it easily.
I read
'wget --load-cookies cookies_file -i URL -o log'
I have free account (NOT premium) on sharing server so all I get is html page .
Isn't there a way to associate wget as default download manager of firefox ?

wget nor any other will work on that type of site
turn off security settings and allow the site cookies
click the "slow" download - wait the ? what 30 or 60 sec. then wait for the generated download link to appear and save

Still does not work in case of rapidshare as output file name is too long (> 256 characters) .
I am desperately looking for browser that logs the download activity So that size mentioned in header at beginning can be compared with what has been downloaded.

any ideas ?

Let me reiterate

In firefox sometimes I see that download is finished after 40MB without any error messages though the file is of 100MB. I think the http server gives header information about file size as seen in wget output .

I am searching for web browser that logs downloading so that I can ascertain that I got complete file.
