Downgrading Linux kernel version from 2.6 to 2.4
HI,
I am trying to downgrade linux kernel version from 2.6 to 2.4. While doing this i am getting '/sbin/genksyms no such file' error. I would like to know if it is possible to do this? Distro: Fedora core 6 kernel version from 2.6.18 to kernel version 2.4.29. Please let me know if more information is needed. Thanks, Greplinux |

I am trying this just out of curiosity.

Unless you are willing to spend a ton of hours(100+ pretty easily) on this it will not work. Too much of Fedora is integrated with the kernel. If you want to run 2.4 kernels just start with a 2.4 based distro.

Thanks buddy.
Is it possible to try this with any other distros. Grep. |
Why not just start with a 2.4 based distro?
Slack or gentoo (any of the compile based rather than package based) would be my best bet. The rest are going to be pretty integrated just like Fedora. |
Why is the basic difference between gentoo and fedora? Can you please explain it little further.
Thanks, Grep |
