Hello mahesh and welcome to LQ

Could you possibly give some more details? Like what version of Ubuntu you're using? Or what type of internet connection you have (if any)?

Run
sudo apt-get update
before installing packages.I assume you have internet connection enabled.

Run "sudo apt-get update" first(obviously without quotes).

In your first post you referred to turbo c . If you are talking about c language compiler then there is a simple alternative.
$gcc file.c
You will get a.out executable binary in same folder provided there were no errors.
Just run
$./a.out
To execute your program.

PS:
(1)You should install g++ initially.
$sudo apt-get install g++
Don't worry the required files are present even on ubuntu cd ( Just like package 'build-essential' ) .

(2)Also I have noticed 'void main(){code;}' gives error so I do 'int main(){code;return 0;}'
