How about your experience with Linux? the hardware is too weak for Ubuntu or Mint. If I were you I would install Slackware (but I have about 18 years of experience with Slackware, maybe that doesn't help you
).
Slackware is on the jump to stable release 14. We have a very helpful and knowledgeable forum here at LQ

I would recommend to go to there, read a bit about Slackware and install it. But be sure to install the new 14 release because the kernel (3.2.29) will support your HUAWAI.
If you need any help, feel free to post in the Slackware-forum. Don't believe the nonsense that Slackware is hard to use, it's the most simple distribution out there, but one has to learn a bit.
