Don't know which to use please help

Hi, I am new to this linux forum.

My computer is a PII 350Mhz Compaq DeskPro with 128MB of ram, I have windows ME on it currently, but want to know which is the best linux os to get. I see there are different types but am not sure which one to choose? And how would I go about putting the linux os on my computer? Please if anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thank you.

This is one of the most frequently asked questions, and there is no right answer.

I would suggest you get ahold of the boxed version of Mandrake or SuSE, since they both come with printed manuals for installation.

Thank you steve. Reason I'm asking is because I am looking at this website http://www.distrowatch.com/

someone told me I can get it for free the linux os but at that website, but I don't know how you download it. Any answers to that also. I'm thinking of going with the mandrake.

Hello and Welcome

You want to download the ISO images and create CD's from the ISO's.

Try www.linuxiso.org

I also like to go to http://www.edmunds-enterprises.com/linux/ and order CD's for like $6.00.

Peace,
Whitehat
