Smile domain pop and imap server

hi, I'm a windows user starting out on linux so bear with me.

I have a RH7.2 installed on my system.
How can I get it to:
1. Download it from a POP account from my ISP
2. Set up a IMAP server so I can use IMAP to see the e-mails from Win client machines.
3. Set up e-mail collection so that it collects when I am connected with dial-up (but won't trigger dial on demand).

I don't understand what you REALLY mean to do.
1) POP account - can be done with any mail program you have, just run it and set it up (Settings -> Configuration in KMail, similar in other programs).
2) Do you mean IMAP server, or you just want to read mail from an account you already have?
3) Nearly all amil programs do this. For example my Netscape.

hes right any mail client to get your mail, and you can use postfix to be your mail server, probably already installed, one file to edit and you are set

downloading mail from a pop server

there's a difference from downloading it and reading it using kmail or something else.

with Fetchmail it will download all e-mails and puts it in your mailbox /var/mail/ so when u use kmail u retrieve your mail from your local mailbox instead of your pop mail box from your ISP.
crontab fetchmail to retrieve mail lets say every hour so u can still read your incoming mail when your offline.
