domain configuration


hello every one,,
can any one guide me in configuring the domain for the first time in rhel9.i want to make my linux machine as domain server and cliets having windows xp OS must be able to join it..any help nis much appreciated.

Hi -

1. "It depends".
Different organizations have different needs, there's no one, simple "right" answer.

2. In the simplest case, just:
a) Get an internet connection (DSL, Cable modem: whatever)
b) Get a wireless router with some empty ports
c) Plug the router into your internet connection, and your other PCs to the router
d) Voila! Instant network. No muss, no fuss.

3. If your needs are more complex ... then you need to do some homework. Here are a few links:

Incidentally, there's no such thing as RHEL 9, so that's either Fedora 9 (bleeding edge, not recommended for serious work) or RHL 9 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Hat_Linux , which is seriously obsolete.
If you're using that, I strongly recommend you get Centos 5.3 (free copy of RHEL 5.3; current/latest version)
