Doing it the Correct Way - 2 Servers 1 for the DB the other Web Server

Hello All;

First, I did a google search, but couldn't find the details required.

I have two debian machines (stable) and would like one to host Web Pages while the other is used only as a DB. Is there a tutorial available to do this. I'm able to do this with one computer, but would really like one dedicated only as the DB. I know they have to connect to each other, I'm just wondering the process involved.

1. you need a network in the easy case of which you would have both servers on the same LAN subnet
2. replace all references to localhost db connections on the web server with ip address or hostname of the db server
3. check where and how things are behaving differently, make changes. you will have specific queries about your setup.
4. find which port needs to be listening on which server.
5. browse test site. submit forms. do the drill (usual CRUD stuff)

Most importantly stick with web server and db software that you are most comfortable with. Keep the learning to the network architecture to begin with.
