Does using the .Thuderbird file to save everything, not work in FC-6

I have FC6 and use KDE.

When I used to use FC-5 I could save everything, settings, passwords, emails, address's etc., by saving the hidden file .Thunderbird. Then when I reinstalled FC5 I could just start Thunderbird up to generate a .Thunderbird file, delete it and copy over the saved .Thunderbird file. Then I'd have things all set up the way it was before. I'd have the same old folders and in those folders would be all the emails I put in to them. Even the Inbox would be restored. All of my account settings were maintained, including passwords.

But now that I have FC-6 that doesn't work anymore. Is it that you can't put a .Thunderbird file from FC-5 into FC-6? If so, is there anyway to salvage all that data from the old FC-5 .Thunderbird file?

The .thunderbird directory has a lowercase 't'.
