on running olsr with traffic and scenerio file on ns-2.35, 32 bit ubuntu 12.04

Hi Knudfl,

thanks.
As per your suggestion,again i have started from scratch:"tar xvf ns-allinone-2.35.tar.gz"
with olsr patch- "um-olsr-1.0.tgz" available on http://sourceforge.net/projects/um-olsr/
and this time its successful and after executing "$ ns olsr_example.tcl", i am getting:
Code:
s@s-Vostro-1440:~/ns-allinone-2.35/ns-2.35/exampleolsr$ ns olsr_example.tcl
num_nodes is set 5
INITIALIZE THE LIST xListHead
*** NOTE: no connection pattern specified.
*** NOTE: no scenario file specified.
Starting Simulation...
channel.cc:sendUp - Calc highestAntennaZ_ and distCST_
highestAntennaZ_ = 1.5,  distCST_ = 550.0
SORTING LISTS ...DONE!
NS EXITING...
but when i try for full simulation with traffic file created in "cmu-scen-gen" and scenario file created in "setdest", i am getting the same message:
Code:
s@s-Vostro-1440:~/ns-allinone-2.35/ns-2.35/exampleolsr$ ns olsr_example.tcl OLSR cbr-5-4 scen-5-45-400-600 5
num_nodes is set 5
INITIALIZE THE LIST xListHead
*** NOTE: no connection pattern specified.
*** NOTE: no scenario file specified.
Starting Simulation...
channel.cc:sendUp - Calc highestAntennaZ_ and distCST_
highestAntennaZ_ = 1.5,  distCST_ = 550.0
SORTING LISTS ...DONE!
NS EXITING...
its unable to recognize traffic and scenario file.

please suggest....

thanks & Regards

Please read the text file olsr_example.tcl : ! There is really nothing specified !
The file is an example for you to edit, if you want to.

The easy solution :
You can just use one of the other examples from `umolsr-examples0613.tar.gz'

what's the reason for having different names for "ns"(Different executable) for different protocols

Hi Knudfl,

Thank you so much for your time and tips, after following your useful tips, now i am able to simulate OLSR protocol on ubuntu 12.04. now, "filename.tcl" works with any created traffic and scenerio file.
with both executable "ns" and "ns-umolsr", its a successful run.
Code:
s@s-Vostro-1440:~/Desktop/exampleolsr$ ns-umolsr olsr_test1.tcl cbr-20 scen-20 20
num_nodes is set 20
warning: Please use -channel as shown in tcl/ex/wireless-mitf.tcl
INITIALIZE THE LIST xListHead
Loading connection pattern...
Loading scenario file...
Starting Simulation...
channel.cc:sendUp - Calc highestAntennaZ_ and distCST_
highestAntennaZ_ = 1.5,  distCST_ = 550.0
SORTING LISTS ...DONE!
NS EXITING...
s@s-Vostro-1440:~/Desktop/exampleolsr$ ns olsr_test1.tcl cbr-20 scen-20 20
num_nodes is set 20
warning: Please use -channel as shown in tcl/ex/wireless-mitf.tcl
INITIALIZE  to THE LIST xListHead
Loading connection pattern...
Loading scenario file...
Starting Simulation...
channel.cc:sendUp - Calc highestAntennaZ_ and distCST_
highestAntennaZ_ = 1.5,  distCST_ = 550.0
SORTING LISTS ...DONE!
NS EXITING...
Can you please send me some links for sample ".awk" script, to start with, for OLSR protocol to extract results from trace file.

I want to know- within the same package- "ns-allinone-2.35", what's the reason for having different names(copies) for "ns"(Different executable) for different protocols.Many protocols- DSDV, DSR, AODV, AOMDV, OLSR can reside together within the same installed "ns-2.35". so, we can us "ns" command to simulate all protocols?

Thanks and Regards

Are you having problems accessing Google from your location? It would seem like something a 'research scholar' would have access to.
