does Mepis work on a really old computer

I've got an old box with about 100MB of RAM and enough hard drive for it but when I try to boot from the Mepis CD I get some waffle about bash-like commands. Does this mean I have to do some command line stuff to get it to boot? And if so, what?

We will need some more specific info--what exactly happens when booting from the CD? What are the exact messages?

The CD should boot up and offer installation options. If it is a live CD, it should boot up to a desktop.

What are all of the computer specs?--processor, HD size, etc.

KDE from a LiveCD in 100 meg? I wouldn't think so, but I've been wrong before....

I thought I recalled seeing either on the mepis or mepislovers forum that the LiveCD wouldn't even load with less than 128 meg.
