Does linux have a "Remote Desktop" feature? Since I often telecommute I use the "Remote Desktop" feature from Windows XP. Is this feature available with linux? And, if so, can I remote to a Windows XP machine?
Also, keep in mind that the X window system is inherently designed to be usable remotely. You can run X on one computer and have its display directed to another computer - just like the old concept of using dumb terminals connected to a more powerful server, only with modern display technology There are lots of possibilities! Check out the Remote X Apps HOWTO, the Linux Terminal Server Project, and the Thin Client HOWTO for some ideas.

Yes, there is a Linux program called rdesktop that lets you use the Windows Remote Desktop Protocol to log into Windows computers remotely. It comes with most distributions.
VNC also works well. RealVNC and TightVNC come with most distributions.

This doesn't help for remoting to Windows, since Windows apps don't use X.

There is no free NX server for Windows (at least not that I know of).
