Dockapps' place on desktop

I've set some automatically starting dockapps, but I've got two problems :
First, they seem to launch in some random order, resulting in a chaotic organization that doesn't fit what I would like it to be.
Second, I'd like to choose where they appear on desktop, is there any way to do so ?

Thx for paying attention to me :)

It depends on what window manager you are using, partly. Are you using Gnome, KDE, Fluxbox, etc.?

Using Window Maker

I haven't used Window Maker much, but one trick I've seen for getting dockapps in a particular order is to use 'sleep'; if your dockapps are started up from an .Xsession or .xinitrc file, for example:

gkrellm -w &
wmmon -w &
wmtime -w &

You'd add 'sleep 1' or some such to the beginning of each line:

sleep 1 gkrellm -w &
sleep 1 wmmon -w &
sleep 1 wmtime -w &

Supposedly keeps them from starting in a random order. If you're using another method for starting them up, though, I am not sure what to tell you.

Window Maker handles dockapps quite easily.
All you need to do is drag the dockapp to the dock. The order you put it in should be the order it starts in next time.
